Bank of industrial projects: 1,542 projects identified

The investment projects identified within the framework of the Industrial Projects Bank amount to 1,542 projects for an import substitution of 75.9 billion dirhams (MMDH), said Wednesday in Rabat, the Minister of l ‘Industry and Commerce, Ryad Mezzour.

“Our goal is to make Made in Morocco a marker of quality, competitiveness and sustainability to meet consumer needs and gain their trust. To achieve this, we have set up a mechanism to promote local manufacturing through the Project Bank, which has so far identified 1,542 investment projects for import substitution of 75.9 billion dirhams”, said Mezzour during the 10th edition of National Consumer Day.

Initiated in collaboration with the federations of consumer protection associations under the theme “The Moroccan consumer at the heart of the local product development strategy”, this day was also an opportunity for the Minister to emphasize that “the promotion of the local is a priority project that places the citizen at the heart of our action”. And to add: “We are also continuing our efforts to guarantee the quality and safety of products on the local market with a view to optimal consumer protection, through rigorous market surveillance mechanisms and a well-established certification system. and standardization”.

For his part, the president of the Moroccan Federation of Consumer Rights, Bouazza Kherrati, highlighted the important role of the consumer in the development of local products and the development of innovation and production, particularly with a view to avoid economic recession and business bankruptcy.

The national product development strategy requires focusing on gaining consumer confidence, which requires compliance with production principles ensuring safety and health conditions, quality criteria, as well as price transparency. in order to protect purchasing power and social stability, he explained.

Like previous editions, this day was an opportunity to measure the progress made in terms of consumer protection. On the legal level, it is worth highlighting the preparation, in collaboration with the various parties concerned, of a bill amending and supplementing Law No. 31-08 enacting consumer protection measures.

In terms of support for the national consumerist movement, several actions have been carried out, in particular the professionalization of existing consumer counters, the improvement of working tools and the governance of consumer protection associations, as well as the support and support for associations in carrying out studies and comparative tests.

As for the control system, the regional and local joint commissions controlled, during the year 2022, more than 308,000 points of sale, including production units and warehouses, which made it possible to record 12,452 infractions.

In the same vein, more than 120,000 import control files were processed, which resulted in the analysis and testing of 8,700 samples by approved laboratories, and led to the rejection of more than 2,000 non-compliant products. compliant.
