74% of wholesalers expect stable sales volume

HCP: 74% of wholesalers expect stable sales volume in Q1-2023

The High Commission for Planning (HCP), indicated that the expectations of 74% of wholesalers show stability in the overall volume of sales for the first quarter of 2023 and an increase according to 15% of them.

This development would be mainly attributable, on the one hand, to the expected increase in sales in “Wholesale trade of household goods” and “Wholesale trade of raw agricultural products and live animals” and, on the other hand, to the expected drop in sales in the “Wholesale trade of other industrial equipment” and the “Wholesale trade of food products, beverages and tobacco”, explains the HCP in a note on the results of the quarterly business tendency surveys of SMNF and wholesale trade sectors.

Orders forecast for the first quarter of 2023 would be at a normal level according to 79% of business leaders and below normal according to 14% of them. Employment would experience stability in the workforce according to 88% of wholesalers. In the 4th quarter of 2022, sales in the Wholesale Trade sector on the local market would have been stable according to 63% of wholesalers and an increase according to 24%.

This change is mainly attributable to the increase in sales in “Wholesale trade of information and communication equipment” and “Wholesale trade of other industrial equipment”.

Employment would have experienced stability according to 83% of business leaders. Stocks of goods would have been at a normal level according to 81% of wholesalers and the trend observed in selling prices would have shown an increase according to 33% of business leaders.
