Landings of marketed coastal and artisanal fishing products reached 117,405 tonnes (T) for the first two months of this year, up 2% compared to the same period of 2022, according to the National Fisheries Office (ONP). ).
The value of these landings amounted to more than 2.052 billion dirhams (MMDH), against 2.027 billion dirhams a year earlier, said the ONP in its recent report on coastal and artisanal fishing statistics in Morocco.
By species, landings of shellfish, crustaceans and pelagic and white fish showed respective increases of 29% at 17 T, 25% at 1,480 T, 9% at 84,112 T and 4% at 14,708 T. landings of seaweed and cephalopods fell by 15% and 26% respectively.
By port, a total of 2,838 T of coastal and artisanal fishing products were landed in Mediterranean port entries at the end of February 2023, down 21%. In terms of value, these ports recorded a decline of 6%.
For their part, landings at the ports located on the Atlantic increased, in volume, by 3% to 114,566 T, and in value, by 2% to more than 1.936 billion dirhams.
