two Brazilian tourists victims of sexual assault and rape at the foot of the Eiffel Tower

Two tourists of Brazilian nationality were respectively victims of sexual assault and rape, on the night of Sunday to Monday, in the gardens of the Eiffel Tower in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, French media reported on Tuesday.

An investigation of the rape leader has been opened by the Paris prosecutor’s office, the press adds, citing a judicial source, stating that the two tourists had spent the evening with two young men, met a few hours earlier before they were assaulted by both individuals.

In a state of shock, the two victims, in tears and speaking French with difficulty, were taken to a local police station, where one of the two sisters claimed to have been raped by one of the two men who took the escape in a black car.

“The rape of a woman at the foot of the Eiffel Tower once again highlights the dangerousness of the Champ-de-Mars site,” lamented Rachida Dati, mayor of the 7th arrondissement, in a press release.

Since 2020, the elected Les Républicains (right) more generally castigates a “rise in delinquency”, “endemic insecurity” and a “multiplication of trafficking and violence”, according to the media.
