Morocco’s global external position (PEG), which reflects the financial situation of the national economy vis-à-vis the rest of the world, posted a net debt position of 834.7 billion dirhams (MMDH) at the end of September 2022. , against -803.4 billion dirhams at the end of June 2022, indicates the Office des Changes.

This situation results from an increase in outstanding financial commitments (+39.5 billion dirhams), greater than that of financial assets (+8.3 billion dirhams), specifies the Office in a press release on the results of foreign trade at the end of September 2022.

The increase in financial commitments is mainly due to the increase in the outstanding amount of the “other investments” component of 37.9 billion dirhams and the outstanding portfolio investments in Moroccan securities of 6 billion dirhams, offset by the drop in the Outstanding direct investments of 4.3 billion dirhams, specifies the same source.

The increase in the stock of financial assets is mainly due to the increase of 11.3 billion dirhams in the stock of reserve assets and of 2.9 billion dirhams in the stock of direct investments mitigated by the decline of 6 .7 billion dirhams of the outstanding amount of the “other investments” component.
