
The government, which has been subsidizing electricity for years, will not increase the prices of this vital energy, assured, on Thursday in Rabat, the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, government spokesperson, Mustapha Baïtas.
Speaking at a press briefing held after the Government Council, Baïtas indicated that bill 83-21 relating to multi-service regional companies approved by parliament is intended to deal with one of the major problematic to serve the interest of the Moroccan citizen who pays the bill for water, electricity and liquid sanitation.
The bill will be presented to the relevant committees in the House of Representatives and the House of Councilors for consideration and adoption, in addition to the constitutionality check and its presentation before the Constitutional Court, if necessary, he continued.
Baïtas also stressed the need for the regularization of the water and electricity distribution sector and the gradual implementation of this project in order to preserve the financial balances of the National Electricity Office and the drinking water (ONEE) and investment at the national level.
