Baitas provides update on medical coverage

During the press briefing held at the end of the Government Council, which met this Thursday under the chairmanship of the Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas , indicated that the subject of social protection did not lend itself to any interpretation except for the clarity of thea reform of the health system and progress in its implementation as well as the construction of the social state.

The spokesperson has recalled that the social protection system was designed to be based primarily on the spirit of solidarity. There are a certain number of social categories – 11 million people – who benefited from medical coverage. The Executive added another 11 million people who worked in other professions that did not benefit from a rmedical assistance scheme in this case. These are plumbers, taxi drivers, journalists, domestic workers, sportsmen, artists, artisans, farmers, etc.

There were eleven other million people left, the Ramedists, so to speak. This category, let it be clear, the Executive now makes a point of integrating them, through the new social protection system which will allow all employees to benefit from social protection. The government will take care of the contribution of this category of citizens.

Let’s be clear, the first category is self-sufficient, while the second category, the so-called self-employed workers (TNS), contributes in a spirit of solidarity like the first, in addition to its interests in the name of solidarity and according to the capacities of everyone, knowing in this that the Ramedistes do not have the capacity to contribute.

“The Ramedists do not participate in this effort in any way,” declared Mustapha Baitas. “They benefit from public hospital services and they benefit just like the other categories from the various services offered, having the occasion of the good offices of the State and all the obligations of the beneficiaries”.

In one year, said the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas, the number of members of the CNSS rose during the year from 7.8 million to 23.2 million. of citizens who have joined the National Social Security Fund. More than 642,000 people have benefited from social protection services on the medical level, apart from public and private employees.
