Arrival in Morocco of the Federal Chancellor of Austria

The Federal Chancellor of Austria, Karl Nehammer, arrived Monday afternoon in Morocco for an official visit to the Kingdom.

On his arrival at Marrakech-Menara airport, Nehammer was welcomed by the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch.

After reviewing a detachment of the guard of honor which paid the honours, the Federal Chancellor of Austria was greeted by the Wali of the Marrakech-Safi Region, governor of the prefecture of Marrakech, Karim Kassi-Lahlou, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Austria to Morocco, Anna Jankovic, the King’s Ambassador to Vienna, Azzedine Farhane, and representatives of local authorities.

During this visit, which is part of the celebration, on February 28, 2023, of the 240th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, Nehammer, accompanied in particular by the Federal Minister of the Interior, Gerhard Karner, and the Federal Deputy Minister for European and International Affairs, Peter Launsky, will have a series of talks with a number of Moroccan officials and businessmen.

The Chancellor is also accompanied by a large delegation of businessmen during this visit, which will be marked by the holding of a Morocco-Austria economic forum.
