The high-level meeting announced for February 1-2

The high-level meeting scheduled between Morocco and Spain will take place on February 1 and 2, 2023. This was announced by the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, indicating that the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sanchez, will travel to the Kingdom in the company of a dozen ministers to attend the summit.

The ‘rclose, important and solid relationship which unites Spain and Morocco will be strengthened at the next high-level meeting (RAN), the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday, stressing that the summit to be held on February 1 and 2, assuring that ” lots of chords will be signed during this visit.

Thus, José Manuel Albares stressed that this high-level meeting represents ” a new accomplishment of the roadmap adopted between Morocco and Spain on April 7, during the visit to Morocco of the President of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, at the invitation of King Mohammed VI.

In detail, Albares indicated that the Spanish delegation that will be led by President Sánchez will include a dozen ministers. This is also the first high-level meeting held between the two countries since 2015, without there being a crisis. In the past, meetings were usually held once a year or every two years between Morocco and Spain, raises the Spanish press.

The two parties pledged to “relaunch and strengthen cooperation in the field of migration” in order to be able to control irregular immigration. To this end, since the resumption of relations between Madrid and Rabat, meetings of the Spanish-Moroccan Permanent Group on Migration have been held. Just like one of the working groups in charge of dealing with another hot topic, the delimitation of the waters between the coast of the Kingdom and the Canary Islands. Thus, the February RAN is an important step forward for relations and a sign of the strengthening of the Spain-Morocco link.
