IFFHS Awards 2022: Regragui 3rd best club coach in the world

Walid Regragui, who clinched the Moroccan league and African Champions League title last year with Wydad Casablanca, has been crowned the third-best club manager in the world in 2022 by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

The title of best club manager in the world, announced on the IFFHS website, goes to Real Madrid’s Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti for “his fantastic season and a new UEFA Champions League title”. .

Regragui is the only Arab and African in this ranking dominated by Europeans and South Americans and which includes renowned coaches such as the Spaniard Josep Guardiola (Manchester City), second, the German Jürgen Klopp (Liverpool), fourth, and the Portuguese José Mourinho (AS Roma), fifth.

Currently coach of the Morocco team, Regragui was also crowned third best national coach in the world. He became the first African and Arab technical executive to lead his team to the semi-finals of the World Cup.

The 47-year-old former Moroccan international has other coaching experiences with FUS Rabat and Qatari Al Duhail to his credit.
