Leila Benali makes a field visit to the main energy infrastructures

The Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, made a field visit to the main energy infrastructures available to the city of Mohammedia on Wednesday.

Following the incident that occurred on December 22, 2022, which caused no casualties, and only some material damage, Leila Benali wanted to intervene on the ground to assess the situation of energy installations, the volume of stocks of petroleum products as well as safety and environmental conditions.

The city of Mohammedia has many energy infrastructures such as hydrocarbon and LPG storage depots, while the port of Mohammedia concentrates a significant part of the transport and storage activities of liquid and gaseous petroleum products.

On this occasion, Leila Benali, accompanied by a large delegation from her ministry and in the presence of local authorities, visited the port of Mohammedia, the Community Storage Company (CEC), the filling centers for liquefied petroleum gas and the Moroccan Storage Company (SOMAS) and met with the main managers on the prevention plans and the measures put in place to reduce the risk of incidents.

During these meetings, the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development insisted on the training of personnel, the promotion of technologies to strengthen the security and information of citizens living nearby.

At the end of her visit, Leila Benali declared that the city of “Mohamedia, constitutes the first stage of a series of visits which will be programmed to other sites of energy installations”, stating that “prevention and respect safety rules to ensure the protection of personnel, local residents and all citizens are fundamental elements for better management of the risks associated with these installations”.
