France welcomes half of Moroccan international students

France still remains THE favored destination for Moroccan students. This was revealed by recent data published by the platform “Erudera»concerning the higher education sector in the Kingdom for the year 2021.

Thereby, “Erudera» made it known that “approximately 60,000 Moroccan students studied abroad during the 2021-2022 academic year, with more than half of them, or approximately 33,000 international Moroccan students, who were studying in France during the same period”.

In addition, universities in the United States of America have marked a leap in terms of choice of Moroccan students, becoming the second destination for them, with some 1,466 Moroccans having chosen the United States as their study destination in the last academic year, according to the same source.

Then come the universities and institutes of the United Kingdom, which in turn attracted 1,265 Moroccan students enrolled in various British universities, during the same academic season.

On the other hand, the popularity of Morocco as a destination for mobile students has increased worldwide in recent years, points out ” Erudera » which justifies this choice by certain government policies which gave their fruit. Enrollment of international students in Morocco also increased by 143% between 2013 and 2020, the same source said.

Morocco is not only one of the biggest destinations chosen by international students in Africa, the platform also notes, but also one of the most popular study destinations for students from the African continent.

In this sense, Erudera reports that in 2020, ” Moroccan universities and institutes welcomed 24,226 students in their lecture halls, the second highest number among African countries, preceded by South Africa, which had 40,712 students”.

The platform, which has the largest database of schools and universities across the world, drew attention to the fact that “ Moroccan universities are consistently ranked among the best in Africa”noting that ” the country’s higher education system is renowned for its excellence and innovation”.

Indeed, three Moroccan universities occupied the first ten places of the ” African University Ranking 2021″, namely Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Mohammed V University in Rabat and Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech.

The fields of undergraduate studies in Morocco, according to the statistics of the platform, include the fields of engineering, economics, commerce and finance, as well as sciences.

Under the 2021 budget, she recalls, the Moroccan government allocated $7.16 billion to the education sector, while 7 Moroccan universities were ranked among the top 1,500 institutions among 104 countries.
