Achraf Hakimi named IFFHS Eleven Guy of the Year

The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) has unveiled its eleven type for 2022. The right-back of the Atlas Lions, Achraf Hakimi, semi-finalist of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, appears alongside other big names in world football.

Besides Hakimi, the IFFHS type eleven includes Thibaut Courtois (Belgium/Real Madrid), Josko Gvardiol (Croatia/RB Leipzig), Virgil Van Dijk (Netherlands/Liverpool), Alphonso Davies (Canada/Bayern München), Luka Modric (Croatia/Real Madrid), Kevin De Bruyne (Belgium/Manchester City), Lionel Messi (Argentina/Paris SG), Erling Haaland (Norway/Dortmund/Manchester City), Karim Benzema (France/Real Madrid) and Kylian Mbappe ( France/Paris SG).

Known for his striking attacks in attack which allowed him to score several goals, both in club and in the national team, Hakimi, 25, has evolved in the best European clubs, like Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Borussia Dortmund, before landing at Paris Saint Germain.

He has one of the most extensive track records. He is, in fact, winner of the Champions League (2017) and the Club World Cup (2018) with Real Madrid, the German Supercup with Borussia (2019), the Italian Championship with Inter Milan (2021) and the French championship with Paris Saint Germain in 2022.

His first selection dates back to October 11, 2016 during the Morocco-Canada friendly match (4-0). Since then, he has had around sixty international matches, including several African Nations Cups. He was playing in Qatar for his second World Cup with Morocco after that of 2018 in Russia.
