Water: More than 650 MDH of unpaid "Individual customers", the late penalty reactivated from January

The National Office for Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE), Water branch, has indicated that the amount of unpaid “Private Customers”, accumulated since the Covid crisis, exceeds the threshold of 650 million dirhams (MDH) . The late penalty will be reactivated from January 2023.

In a note published at the end of November on the question, the Office underlines that “since the advent of Covid, the water branch has taken a certain number of commercial measures for the benefit of its subscribers, in particular the diversification of means of payment, the granting ease of payment and the suspension of late payment penalties”.

To date, i.e. three years later, and in the absence of payment incentive factors, the accumulation of unpaid “Private Customers” exceeds the threshold of 650 million DH, added the note which called for respect. the procedure and the regularity of the business cycle.

To this end, ONEE indicates that in the face of this situation, the late penalty will be reactivated, scheduled from January 1, 2023, according to the same management rules put into effect before the Covid-19 pandemic. .

The Office thus invites the regional departments “to ensure that the centers distribute and apply the terms of this memorandum and ensure broad awareness among our customers who now have 30 days to avoid any application of penalties. delay “.
