Production index up 3.1% in Q3-2022

The index of production of manufacturing industries excluding oil refining recorded an increase of 3.1% during the third quarter of 2022 compared to the same period of 2021, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP).

This development results in particular from the increase in the production index of the “automotive industry” by 21.7%, of the “food industries” by 8.6%, of that of the “manufacture of tobacco products ” by 18.8% and that of the “pharmaceutical industry” by 23.4%, specifies the HCP in a note relating to the industrial, energy and mining production index (IPIEM) for the third quarter of 2022.

It is also the result of the rise in the index of the “manufacture of metal products” by 15.5%, that of the “leather and footwear industry” by 25.4%, that of the ” printing and recording reproduction” by 23.2%, that of the “wood industry” by 22.0% and that of the “metallurgy” by 6.9%.

On the other hand, the index of the “manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products” recorded a drop of 11.3%, that of the “chemical industry” by 5.5%, that of the “manufacture of ‘electrical equipment’ by 13.2%, that of the ‘clothing industry’ by 6.7% and that of ‘paper and cardboard’ by 14.9%.

In addition, the extractive industries production index fell by 19%, resulting from the drop in the production index of “miscellaneous extractive industry products” by 19.7% and the increase in that of “metallic ores” by 1.9%.

The index of the production of electrical energy recorded, for its part, a drop of 0.2%.
