ONP: 19% increase in fishing landings at the end of November

The National Fisheries Office (ONP) reported a 19% increase in landings of marketed coastal and artisanal fishing products, which stood at 1,405,398 tonnes (T) at the end of November 2022.

In its recent report on coastal and artisanal fishing statistics in Morocco, the ONP specifies that the value of these landings exceeded 8.79 billion dirhams (MMDH), up 9% compared to the end of November 2021.

By species, landings of shellfish, pelagic fish and crustaceans showed respective increases of 27% to 1,191 T, 24% to 1,258,524 T and 6% to 6,280 T. On the other hand, the landings of algae, cephalopods and white fish fell by 47%, 11% and 6% respectively.

By port, a total of 16,674 T of coastal and artisanal fishing products were landed in Mediterranean port entries at the end of November 2022, down 7%. In terms of value, these ports recorded a decline of 8% to 554.58 million dirhams (MDH).

For their part, landings at the ports located on the Atlantic increased, in volume, by 19% to 1,388,724 T and in value by 11% to nearly 8.24 billion dirhams.
