Tunisia takes the door despite its victory against France

Tunisia is eliminated from the 2002 World Cup despite its victory against France (1-0), this Wednesday, November 20, Australia securing its qualification against Denmark.

Tunisia had dominated their match by winning with a goal that was not enough for the men of Jalel Kadri, surprised by the score of Australia’s match against Denmark.

Qualified in the round of 16, Didier Deschamps’ France chose to field its B team for this third match against Tunisia, which will seek victory at all costs to pass the pools.

From the first minutes, the Carthage Eagles get a great opportunity by managing to pass the spinners of Steve Mandada. The free kick is taken from the left by Khazri and central defender Ghandri takes it back (8′), but the goal is disallowed for offside.

On this first half hour of play, the Blues do not succeed either after having tried their luck while the Tunisians are becoming more and more dangerous.

During this first period, France offered a bland performance, while Tunisia continued to seek victory.

Tunisia offers itself a new opportunity in the 51st minute with Laïdouni who comes to scratch a ball in the feet of Fofana and tries his luck without finding the target.

Seven minutes later, it was a relief for the Tunisians who managed to find the fault thanks to Wahbi Khazri (58′) who accelerated full axis and deceived Mandanda with a cross shot. Meanwhile, the French are struggling to find solutions.

After bringing in its incumbents such as Kylian Mbappé, Antoine Griezmann or Ousmane Dembélé, France is more offensive and manages to get chances in the last quarter of an hour of the game.

In added time, France continued to push for the equalizer with an attempt by Mbappé repelled by Dahmen.

On the other side, Australia secured its ticket by beating Denmark (1-0). So it’s over for Tunisia which signed an honorable course during this World Cup.
