The Rendez-vous de la philosophie, from November 7 to 12 in four Moroccan cities

The Night of the Philosophers is reinventing itself to become the Rendez-vous de la Philosophie which will take place for the first time not only in Rabat and Casablanca, but also in Marrakech and Fez, highly symbolic cities for Arab culture and thought, allowing to the event to anchor itself more deeply in Morocco, indicates the French Institute in a press release, specifying that this event is entrusted to a double Franco-Moroccan commissionership, Driss Ksikes and Jean-Baptiste Brenet.

Thus, from November 7 to 10, Fez will host a School of Critical Thinking at the Euromed University for Moroccan doctoral students, and Marrakech, a School of Philosophy for Moroccan teachers, the same source said, adding that public conferences will be scheduled alongside the workshops.

On November 11, Casablanca will host a philosophical journey: conferences with three voices, philosophy cafés and meetings, while on November 12, after a morning conference at the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco, the Faculty of Sciences of Rabat will bring together around thirty philosophers for a closing night.

Free and accessible to all, the conferences will be given in Arabic and French by some thirty philosophers and thinkers of six different nationalities gathered for their work on classical or contemporary, European or African authors, underlines the press release, noting that the emphasis will focus particularly on medieval Arab philosophy, with the aim of opening up a global critical space.

“The Meetings of Philosophy will also be an opportunity to highlight multiple cooperations, around the creation of a doctoral school of critical thinking (Fez) which will welcome around thirty doctoral students from public and private universities. or training dedicated to method and philosophical practice for Moroccan teachers teaching in final and preparatory classes (Marrakesh) »we specify.

For the organization of this unique event in the Maghreb, the French Institute of Morocco has brought together leading Moroccan and French partners, including the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco, the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports of Morocco, the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad, the Institute of the Arab World, the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie, the Institution of Higher Education – HEM, the Euromed University and the UFR of Philosophy of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne University.
