The 11th National Road Congress, held from November 10 to 12 in Dakhla under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI, was a “great success”, which reflects the sector’s contribution to the process of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals ( ODD), said the Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, on Saturday.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of this congress placed under the theme “What roles of road infrastructure in the New Model of Economic and Social Development of Morocco”, Baraka stressed that the theme of this congress coincides with the implementation implementation of the new development model aimed at achieving a qualitative leap in all macroeconomic indicators, by improving the governance of all sectors.

In a speech read on his behalf by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Equipment and Water, Al Mostapha Fares, Nizar Baraka also noted that this meeting was an ideal opportunity to take advantage of the debates and formulate important recommendations likely to enrich the Moroccan experience in this vital sector in the process of socio-economic development.

This congress also allowed participants to share experiences relating to technical and organizational aspects for the maintenance of road infrastructures, road management systems, financing methods, governance and technical innovation, he added. he continued.

Furthermore, the government official indicated that the holding of this congress is an ideal opportunity to highlight the importance given to the southern provinces in all public policies, particularly in terms of infrastructure within the framework of the implementation of the New Development Model of these provinces, citing in this regard two major projects, namely the Tiznit-Dakhla expressway and the Atlantic port of Dakhla.

On this occasion, Mr. Baraka focused on the Dakhla Atlantic port project, which will consolidate the African depth of the Kingdom and contribute to the influence of the southern provinces of the Kingdom on an international scale.

Dwelling on the next edition of the Congress, Baraka announced that the Permanent Moroccan Association of Road Congresses (AMPCR) has decided to hold the 12 edition in the Oriental region.

The closing ceremony of the 11th National Road Congress took place in the presence of the Secretary General of the wilaya of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, a host of African ministers of transport and logistics, alongside professionals from the sector. , engineers and experts operating in the road sector.

Organized jointly by the Ministry of Equipment and Water and the AMPCR, this three-day meeting is an opportunity to discuss the different roles that road infrastructure will play in achieving the objectives of the new development model. economic and social of Morocco.
