Tennis / Masters: 6th victory for Djokovic which equals Federer's record

Serbian Novak Djokovic won his sixth Masters victory in Turin on Sunday, winning 7-5, 6-3 ahead of Casper Ruud.

In doing so, Djoko equals the record of titles of the Swiss, Roger Federer in this tournament bringing together the eight best players of the season.

The former world No.1 thus ends in style a season truncated by his refusal of the anti-covid vaccine by winning his second major title of the year after Wimbledon. It took him seven years, since his last victory at the Masters in 2015, to equal Federer.

Ranked 8th in the ATP during the tournament, he will rise to 5th place on Monday.

For his part, Ruud lost his third grand final of the year, after Roland-Garros and the US Open. But at 23, 2022 will remain the best season of his career so far as he reached 2nd place in the ATP after Flushing Meadows. After the Turin Masters, he will occupy 3rd place in the ranking which will be published on Monday.
