Sadio Mané injured 10 days before the World Cup

It’s bad luck for the Senegalese international, Sadio Mané. The African champion was injured on Tuesday during the meeting of his club, Bayern Munich, against Werder Bremen, on behalf of the 14th day of the Bundesliga.

Mané remained lying on the lawn for a few minutes, before giving way to teammate Leroy Sané in the 20th minute due to a right knee injury.

Sadio Mané’s injury comes ten days before the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as Senegal national coach Aliou Cissé prepares to publish a list of 26 players for the World Cup.

According to the Senegalese Football Federation, the list of retainers will be known next Friday.

Cissé will not be able to count on Diao Keïta Baldé, who has been suspended by the Italian Anti-Doping Tribunal in effect until December 5. According to the Italian body, Baldé violated the doping control procedure.

The Teranga Lions will also go to the World Cup without Bouna Sarr, a right-back from Bayern Munich, who has had knee surgery.

Uncertainty is also in order with regard to Idrissa Gana Guèye, who was injured on Saturday during a match lost by his club, Everton, against Leicester, for the 15th day of the Premier League.

Note that Senegal is housed in pool A with the host country, Qatar, the Netherlands and Ecuador. He begins the competition on November 21, against the Netherlands.
