Nadia Fettah speaks with WB Vice President for MENA region

The Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah met, Wednesday in Rabat, with the Vice-President of the World Bank for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Farid Belhaj.

The talks focused, in particular, on the commitment of the WB to the Moroccan government, indicated, on this occasion, Belhaj, indicating, in this sense, that an amount of 1.8 billion dollars was made available the disposition of the Moroccan economy last year.

In a statement to the press, Belhaj further affirmed that the WB would be on the same level of commitment next year, specifying that this commitment is not only financial but is also reflected in a virtuous and important dialogue, in particular on issues relating to social security.

In this regard, the official at the WB hailed the extremely important efforts of Morocco in this perspective, in order to give Moroccans more security on the future.

Discussions also focused on the organization of the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in October 2023 in Marrakech, he added, expressing the WB’s full support to the Moroccan government in the organization of these meetings which will be an opportunity for all the countries of the world to discuss international economic affairs.

These meetings will also make it possible to mobilize financing to advance economies at the international level, and in particular financing from the private sector, noted Belhaj, hoping that these meetings will be a success for the WB, the IMF and the Kingdom.
