Morocco faces Algeria on Wednesday in women's handball in Dakar

The Moroccan women’s national handball team faces its Algerian counterpart on Wednesday in the President’s Cup at the Dakar Arena sports center in Diamniadio, near Dakar.

The match was scheduled for the 25th edition of the Senior Women’s African Cup of Nations in the discipline.

At the end of the group stage, the national team, led by French coach Kévin Decaux, was ranked 5th in group B after four defeats against Tunisia (25-35), Guinea ( 20-28) to Egypt (20-28) and ahead of Congo (27-38).

Algeria meanwhile occupies the 3rd place in group A, after winning only one match in front of Cape Verde, against two defeats against Angola and the DRC.

The second match of the President’s Cup will oppose Guinea, ranked fourth in Group B, and Cape Verde who occupied the last place in Group A. Also scheduled for tomorrow Wednesday, the quarter-final matches will pit Angola against Tunisia, Côte d’Ivoire to Congo, Cameroon to DRC and Senegal to Egypt.

The semi-final matches are scheduled for next Friday, while the final will be played on Saturday at the Dakar Arena sports hall in Diamniadio, located 30 km from the capital of Senegal. Thirteen countries take part in this African competition, the first four of which will qualify for the next Women’s World Cup, scheduled for 2023 in Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
