George Weah inaugurates the MEDays forum by denouncing the multiplication of challenges for Africa

The current challenges of the African continent are part of a very complex international context, but must not prevent development and the search for solutions, underlined several Moroccan and foreign officials, including the President of Liberia, George Weah, on the sidelines of the inauguration of the MEDays 2022 forum.

We live in a world of crisis and chaos, said George Weah, stressing that these challenges threaten the heart of the international system.

These challenges bear the name of Covid-19, Monkeypox or Ebola, they take the form of wars, natural disasters and nuclear threat, immigration, listed the president during his speech, explaining that these problems are a threat to the foundations of life.

In this regard, George Weah, particularly denounced the crisis situation prevailing in Africa, particularly in the Sahel region, and in West Africa, by listing open conflicts between African countries like Ethiopia , Eritrea, Somalia, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Central African Republic. ” Why fight, aren’t we brothers?he wondered.

In addition, the wave of military coups suffered by several countries on the continent is worrying, and “contradict the constitutional requirements and the culture of democracy”he added while emphasizing that they have led to the flight and displacement of populations.

It is in this sense that the president of the Amadeus Institute and founder of the MEDays forum, Brahim Fassi Fihri, recalled that the forum is made for Africans and by Africans to address the problems of the latter.

“It is through this prism that we must look at the coming world”he said, recalling that since the last edition of the forum, two years ago, “ a health crisis coupled with an economic shock has shaken the world’s economies”while the war in Ukraine “seriously paralyzes multilateral peace and security institutions and disrupts global trade in raw materials”.

President of the Amadeus Institute and founder of the MEDays Forum, Brahim Fassi Fihri, pointed out that “MEDays is first and foremost a Southern forum. A forum for Africans and by Africans”.

The 2022 edition of the MEDays forum, placed under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI, will address several current geopolitical, economic and social themes, such as the war in Ukraine and its repercussions on Africa, instability and security, the climate change, food and energy crises.
