Exports up 17% at the end of September

Exports of handicrafts increased by 17% in the first nine months of 2022 year-on-year, and by 23% compared to 2019, the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Tourism said on Monday. Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor.

In response to a central question during the weekly session of oral questions in the House of Representatives, on the interest shown in craftsmen and craft trades, the Minister underlined that crafts have experienced significant growth since the recovery of the tourism sector, noting that this dynamic has had a positive impact on national exports of handicrafts.

And to add that the ministry’s strategy in the handicraft sector is based on two main axes, namely the structuring and organization of activities related to handicrafts, as well as the development of the supply of handicrafts, their promotion and marketing.

With regard to the first axis, Ms. Ammor indicated that the department has drawn up all the implementing decrees for Law 50.17 regulating craft activities, which organizes 172 professions in this product and service industry, recalling the setting up, by the ministry, of an electronic platform allowing professionals to register in the National Handicrafts Register and join the National Social Security Fund (CNSS).

The number of registered users on the platform has currently reached 305,000 professionals, said the Minister, explaining that the platform also allows the protection of craftsmen and consumers who can contact referenced professionals directly.

With regard to the second axis related to the development of the artisanal offer, its promotion and its marketing, Ms. Ammor pointed out that the ministry is working, at the level of production and supply, to promote the vocational training system. and to increase the reception capacity of dedicated institutes from 16,000 to 30,000 places by 2026, adding that a program relating to the rehabilitation of 64 marketing and production infrastructures is being completed.

At the same time, the department is committed to developing partnerships with various actors aimed at promoting handicrafts, through the implementation of agreements on electronic marketing through specialized platforms, noted the Minister, noting in this regard that the second edition of the “Aradei” operation relating to the marketing of handicrafts through 11 shopping centers was a “great success”.

In this regard, Ms. Ammor returned to the Kingdom’s participation in many international events, citing the “New York Now” exhibition in the United States which saw the participation of eight Moroccan women entrepreneurs operating in the crafts sector. , to which three prizes were awarded, including the prize for the best product.
