The Department of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF) under the Ministry of Economy and Finance, indicated that the value of exports in the phosphates and derivatives sector increased by +66.6% at the end of last September, instead of +45.4% a year earlier.
In its economic report for the month of November 2022, the DEPF specifies that sales of phosphate derivatives, for their part, appreciated by 67% at the end of September 2022, benefiting from the continued increase in their selling prices. internationally.
On the other hand, their exported volume fell by 17.1%, the result of the decline in the volume of fertilizers by 10.5%, and the volume of phosphoric acid by 33.9%, specifies the same source, noting that for the month of September alone, fertilizer exports increased by 28.6% in volume and 96.2% in value.
As for foreign sales of crude phosphate, they strengthened, in value, by 63.1% at the end of September 2022, against a drop in volume of 43.7%. The note also shows that at the end of the first half of 2022, the value added of the extractive sector, in volume, fell by 6.3%, after an increase of 1.2% a year earlier.
This result covers a drop of 4.8% in the first quarter and 7.8% in the second quarter of 2022, instead of an increase of 3% in Q1-2021 and a decline of 0.6% in Q2-2021.
This downward trend continues in the third quarter of 2022, in line with the decline in market production of rock phosphates, an important component of the extractive sector in Morocco, of 20.3% for this quarter, after a decline of 16.5%. in Q2-2022 and 11% in Q1-2022.
