Black Panther takes the lead at the North American box office

“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is still leading the North American box office, with more than $64 million in receipts for the long Thanksgiving weekend, according to the specialized firm Exhibitor Relations on Sunday.

“Wakanda Forever”, the sequel to the Afro-futurist film which hit the headlines in 2018, pays tribute to Chadwick Boseman, the star of the first “Black Panther”, who died in 2020 of colon cancer at age 43.

“Avalonia: The Curious Journey” was second, grossing $18.6 million over the long weekend.

In third place on the podium, “Devotion”, the story of two US Navy fighter pilots, recorded $9 million in revenue.

“The Menu,” a mix of horror cinema and gritty comedy, is fourth with $7.3 million.

The “Black Adam” superheroes are in fifth place with just under $5 million.
