A week in the red

The Casablanca Stock Exchange closed the week from October 17 to 21, 2022 in the red, its main index, the Masi, falling by 4.26% to 10,954.52 points.

The Morocco Stock Index 20 (MSI20), which reflects the price performance of the 20 most liquid companies, lost 4.70% to 878.62 points, while the Casablanca ESG 10, the Environment, Social and Governance benchmark index ( ESG) dropped 5.10% to 817.15 points.

At the end of this week, 18 sector indices closed in negative territory, against 3 on a positive note and 2 sectors remained stable. The “transport” sector (-10.68%) showed the strongest decline, followed by the “forestry and paper” sector (-9.19%) and that of “chemicals” (-8.51%).

Against the trend, the “engineering and industrial capital goods” index (+6.43%) recorded the best weekly performance, ahead of the “holding companies – holding companies” sector (+2.38%), and “ pharmaceutical industry” (+1.37%).

The overall volume amounted to more than 437 million dirhams (MDH). On the podium of the most active stocks are Attijariwafa Bank with a transaction volume of 38.5 MDH, Sodep-Marsa Maroc (26.2 MDH) and BCP (25.5 MDH). Market capitalization exceeded 570.5 billion dirhams (MMDH).

In terms of values, the best performances of the week were the work of Stroc Industrie (+9.86% at 39 Dirhams (DH)), Delattre Levivier Morocco (+3.58% at 62.29 DH), Balima (+ 3.57% to 145 DH), Delta Holding (+2.40% to 25.99 DH) and Aradei Capital (+1.40% to 435 DH).

Conversely, the biggest drops were recorded by Sonasid (-15.63% to 540 DH), SMI (-11.58% to 1,291 DH), CTM (-11.43% to 558 DH), Alliances (-9.20% to 54.50 DH) and Med Paper (-9.19% to 26.99 DH).
