Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane is organizing, from October 27 to 29, the 6th edition of its national student and high school student competition in short film.
This event will give young talents from Morocco the opportunity to be recognized by big names in cinema and the media: Sofia Alaoui, Sonia Okacha, Azamira, Rachid El Ouali and Bilal Marmid, with grand prizes in three categories. : Fiction, documentary and one-minute film.
According to the organizers, Al Akhawayn Short Film Festival is the only national platform that allows young students and high school students in Morocco to meet, learn and be valued by the greats of Cinema, without registration fees, without necessary cinematographic experience. and without artistic or technical restriction.
Over the years, the festival has seen students from Ouarzazate, Marrakech, Tetouan and Ifrane win with simple, touching and creative short films.
For 2022, the festival received 129 short films from 21 different cities including Gammarth in Tunisia and Cairo in Egypt. The 36 pre-selected films come from 16 different establishments.
The festival opens the ball with the screening of the official selection, on October 27, in the presence of the jury composed of Sofia Alaoui (president), Sonia Okacha, and Azamira. The winners will be announced on October 29.
