Tunisian President Kais Saied ratifies the new Constitution

Tunisian President Kais Saied validated the country’s new Constitution on Wednesday evening, which broadens its powers. The draft amendment to the Tunisian Constitution has been submitted to a referendum.

The draft new Constitution in Tunisia was thus voted by an overwhelming majority for the “yes” (94.6%) according to the final results, announced Tuesday evening, by the Tunisian Electoral Commission.

This new Constitution, which will clearly strengthen the prerogatives of the Head of State, was approved by just over 2.6 million people, according to the President of Isie, the Tunisian electoral authority, who put forward a rate of 30.5% stake.
