Tarik Tissoudali will miss the World Cup

Moroccan international and La Gantoise striker Tarik Tissoudali has suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament in his right knee, the Belgian club announced on Monday.

Tissoudali will have to be absent from the field for a minimum of six months and will therefore have to skip the World Cup in Qatar.

The striker was seriously injured during the Belgian league match against Saint-Trond (1-1) on Saturday. He had to quit the game at the half hour mark.

“I played my last match for at least six months”wrote the Ghent wisp on Monday on his Instagram page, promising to come back even stronger

”I wish my team a lot of success and I will be there for the playoffs. I will support Morocco at the World Cup”he punctuated.

According to the Belgian media, this injury is a huge blow for the people of Ghent. Last season, the native of Amsterdam had compiled 27 goals and 9 assists in 52 matches for La Gantoise, which notably enabled him to win the Soulier d’Ébène (best African footballer or of African origin playing in Belgium).

Moroccan international since January 2022, he has 9 selections and 2 goals for the Atlas Lions, paid in group F of the World Cup with Belgium, Croatia and Canada.
