Morocco qualified for CAN 2022

The Moroccan selection has officially qualified for the next African Cup of Nations (CAN-2022) in beach soccer, on the decision of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following the refusal of the Ivorian selection to continue its match of qualification against the Atlas Lions.

According to the website of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), “the Commission for the Organization and Development of Futsal and Beach Soccer of CAF has decided to apply Articles 54 and 56 of Chapter 30 of the qualifiers, under which it is the Moroccan selection which is considered victorious (3-0) against Côte d’Ivoire in the second leg of the CAN qualifiers”.

This decision was applied following the refusal of the Ivorian selection to continue the match, after the Libyan referee of the game, Yahya Abdelghani whistled a penalty in favor of the Moroccan team, recalls the FRMF, adding that the match first leg had been won by Côte d’Ivoire (7-6) in Abidjan.

Consequently, the Moroccan selection officially qualifies for the next beach soccer CAN, scheduled for October 21 to 30, 2022 in Mozambique, says the same source.
