The health crisis causes economic losses for women

The covid-19 pandemic, beyond its consequences on health, causes significant economic losses particularly for women, pushing them into vulnerability and poverty, according to an information note from the High Commissioner Plan (HCP), published on the occasion of World Population Day, which is celebrated on July 11 each year.

Thus, households headed by women suffered more from the loss of income than their male counterparts heads of households, and this regardless of the sector of activity, indicates the HCP. The proportion of female-headed households with no income was 72% in trade, 58% in industry (including handicrafts), 36.4% in agriculture and 41% in services, specifies the same source.

For households headed by a man, these proportions are respectively 46% in commerce, 53% in industry, 32.5% in agriculture and 33.4% in services.
