Royal pardon for the benefit of 1,769 people

On the occasion of the Feast of the Throne, King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, granted His grace to 1,769 people, some of whom are in detention and others at liberty, sentenced by various courts of the Kingdom, indicates a press release from the Ministry of Justice.

Here is the translation of the press release:

“On the occasion of the Feast of the Throne this year 2022, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God perpetuate His glory, kindly granted His grace to a group of people, some of whom are in detention and others in freedom, sentenced by various courts in the Kingdom, including certain categories of the most vulnerable, namely people with incurable diseases, the elderly, pregnant women, those accompanied by their children and minors.

The people who benefited from this Royal Benevolence, on this happy occasion, number 1,769 and are distributed as follows:

* The beneficiaries of the Royal Pardon who are in detention number 1,459 detainees, broken down as follows:

– Pardon on the remainder of the sentence of imprisonment or reclusion for the benefit of 74 detainees.

– Remission of the sentence of imprisonment or reclusion for the benefit of 1,375 detainees.

– Commutation of the death penalty to life imprisonment for the benefit of 02 detainees.

– Commutation of the life sentence into time sentence for the benefit of 08 detainees.

* The beneficiaries of the Royal Pardon who are free are 310 people, broken down as follows:

– Pardon on the prison sentence or its balance for the benefit of 100 people.

– Pardon on the prison sentence with maintenance of the fine for the benefit of 10 people.

– Pardon on the penalty of fine for the benefit of 190 people.

– Pardon on the prison sentence and fine for the benefit of 10 people.
