Morocco eliminated in quarter by Egypt (1-2)

The U20 national football team lost 1-2 to their Egyptian counterpart in a match played on Sunday in Abha, Saudi Arabia, in the quarter-finals of the Under-20 Arab Cup.

Morocco had taken the lead by scoring the first goal of the match in the 22nd minute, signed by Oussama El Yaakoubi, but the Egyptians managed to score two goals through Ahmed Hawach in the 31st minute, and Salah Mustapha in the 61st minute.

With this defeat, Morocco leaves this Arab competition, while Egypt qualifies for the semi-finals, joining Palestine and Saudi Arabia.

The Moroccan selection, under the direction of coach Mohamed Wahbi, had qualified for the quarter-finals after finishing at the top of group F with 6 points by winning against Sudan (4-2) and Palestine ( 1-0).

As for Egypt, they dominated Group D by beating Oman (1-0) and Somalia (2-0).

As a reminder, the Moroccan national team has won the Arab Cup under 20 twice in 1989 and 2011.
