DGI: 6% increase in tax revenue in 2021

The Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) reported that net tax revenue reached nearly 153.46 billion dirhams (MMDH) in 2021, an increase of 6% compared to 2020.

In its 2021 activity report, the DGI specifies that by tax, these revenues are divided into income tax (IR) with 47.49 billion dirhams, corporate tax – IS (47.14 billion dirhams), value added tax – VAT inside (32.35 billion dirhams) and registration and stamp duties – DET (19.62 billion dirhams).

And to emphasize that “despite a particular context, tax revenues recorded a clear performance in 2021, which concerns both spontaneous and additional revenues. It is the result of the economic recovery and the efforts undertaken by the DGI in terms of promoting voluntary compliance and combating forms of non-compliance”.

The report also shows that gross tax revenue reached nearly 166.95 billion dirhams, up 7% compared to 2020. These revenues are divided between IR (47.7 billion dirhams), IS (47. 5 billion dirhams), VAT inside (nearly 45 billion dirhams) and DET (19.6 billion dirhams). Compared to the target objectives of the Finance Law (LF), gross and net overall revenue were achieved, respectively, at 110% and 107%.

At the retail level, the rate of realization of net IS revenue reached 116% of the LF forecasts. The net income of the IR recorded a rate of achievement of 113% of the target objective of the LF, those of the VAT within 91% and the DET of 108%.
