Casablanca Stock Exchange: A month of June in the red

The Casablanca Stock Exchange closed the month of June sharply lower, the index of all values, the Masi, yielding 2.68% to 12,009.4 points (pts).

For the 22 sessions this month, the Morocco Stock Index 20 (MSI 20), an index comprising the 20 most liquid stocks, lost 2.54% to 970.06 pts. The annual underperformance (YTD) of these two indices thus widened to -10.10% and -10.65% respectively.

For its part, the benchmark Environment, Social and Governance index “Casablanca ESG 10” dropped 2.68% to 899.03 points (-9.92% in YTD).

At the end of this month, the Casablanca rating saw 18 sector indices end down, against only 5 up.

The engineering and industrial capital goods sector showed the strongest decline (-13.34%), followed by that of hardware, software and IT services (-10.15%) and that of finance companies and other activities. financial (-9.84%).

Among the month’s declines are also the sectors of beverages (-9.13%), buildings and construction materials (-3.86%), chemicals (-3.99%) and real estate participation and development. (-6.06%).

On the winners side, the pharmaceutical industry sector ended the month with a gain of 2.69%, the best performance, thus ahead of those of forestry and paper (+0.95%), transport services (+ 0.73%) and electricity (+0.19%).

The overall volume of trade reached more than 4.98 billion dirhams (MMDH), including 4.13 billion dirhams made on the central market (equities). Attijariwafa Bank was the most active instrument of the month with 625.56 million dirhams (MDH) of transactions, followed by Itissalat Al-Maghrib with 443.87 MDH and LafargeHolcim Morocco with 296.71 MDH.

Regarding market capitalization, it amounted to 623.86 billion dirhams at the end of June.

The heaviest falls were recorded by Stroc Industrie (-18.5% to 32.55 DH), Alliances (-14.31% to 59 DH), HPS (-12.69% to 5,400 DH), Société des Boissons Morocco (-12.17% to 2,525 DH) and Eqdom (-11.79% to 1,100 DH).

The biggest increases were made by Promopharm SA (+8.06% to 1,099 DH), Aluminum du Maroc (+7.77% to 1,596 DH), BMCI (+6.27% to 488.85 DH), Colorado (+5.79% to 50.39 DH) and Jet Contractors (+5.41% to 195 DH).
