bank credit increases by 3.9% in May

Bank credit to the non-financial sector increased, year-on-year, by 3.9% in May 2022, after 3.2% a month earlier, according to Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM).

The trend in loans to the non-financial sector covers an acceleration, from 5.6% to 6.4%, in the growth of loans to private companies, an attenuation of the decline, from 16.6% to 10.2%, loans to public non-financial corporations and a virtual stagnation of loans to households at 3.3%, specifies BAM in its key indicators of monetary statistics for the month of May 2022.

The breakdown by economic purpose of loans allocated to the non-financial sector shows an increase in cash facilities of 12.2% after 9.4%, real estate loans of 2% after 2.3% and consumer loans of 3%. .3% against 2.3% as well as a stagnation in the decline in equipment loans at 2.6%, the same source said. With regard to non-performing loans, their annual growth rate stood at 5.7% after 5.3% and their ratio to bank credit reached 8.9%.

On a monthly basis, bank credit to the non-financial sector increased by 1.1%, with an increase of 3.1% in cash facilities, 0.3% in real estate loans and 0.6% % of consumer loans, as well as a 0.4% decline in equipment loans.
