The economic weight of the hunting sector is estimated at one billion dirhams (MMDH) during a hunting season, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Waters and Forests.

“Hunting is not only a practice for the rational management of game populations, but also a local development tool allowing many parallel sectors to benefit from it, including hunting equipment, gunsmiths, transport, hotels, catering and farmed game production units »said the ministry in a press release on the meeting of the High Council for Hunting, held on Friday under the chairmanship of the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Waters and Forests, Mohammed Sadiki.

Hunting also contributes to regional and local development and to the improvement of State revenue through the drainage and loyalty of hunting tourists, allowing the creation of 10,000 to 15,000 days of hunting/year and the creation of employment in the environment. rural (one million permanent working days and 200,000 temporary working days) and marketing of local products, continues the same source.

According to the ministry, the average annual investment made by lessees of hunting rights is estimated at 30 million dirhams, 30% of which is reserved for the effort to repopulate hunting territories, with a view to ensuring the development of certain game species.

This meeting focused on the achievements of the hunting sector in recent years, the assessment of the past hunting season as well as the programs and projects related to hunting programmed within the framework of the “Forests of Morocco 2020- 2030”.

Also on the agenda, the presentation of the regulatory measures proposed for the next hunting season 2022-2023, in particular the opening and closing dates of hunting for the different game species as well as the number of pieces authorized by hunting day.
