Wydad Casablanca crowned champion

Wydad de Casablanca (WAC) was crowned champion of Morocco, after its draw, 2 goals everywhere, against Mouloudia Oujda (MCO), during the 29th and penultimate day of the Botola Pro D1 “Inwi” football .

The first achievement was marked in the 6th minute with an action by Lamine Diakité in favor of the MCO before the team increased its lead with another goal from Diakité (33rd). After reducing their deficit with a goal from Guy Mbenza in the 50th minute, the Reds caught up with the score in the 90th+1 minute with a goal from Juvhel Tsoumou. The Red and Whites, who thus achieved the double (championship/champions league) only needed a single point to officially win the title.

They totaled 63 points, ahead of their runner-up Raja by four lengths, who beat AS FAR (2-1).

WAC is the most successful club in the Moroccan championship with 22 titles, including 17 since the creation of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation in 1956, ahead of AS FAR (12) and Raja de Casablanca (12), while the KAC of Kenitra and the Moghreb of Fez are tied (4).

Raja de Casablanca, who managed to win the derby (2-0), revived their chances of playing for the title, but failed, along the way, to continue their momentum, which resulted in the separation with the technical staff, headed by Rachid Taoussi.

To save their season, the Greens, eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, will have to roll up their sleeves to try to win the title of the Throne Cup, where they must face their neighbor WAC in the quarter-finals.
