UM5 in Rabat, the only Moroccan university to appear in the CWTS Leiden 2022 ranking

The 2022 edition of the CWTS Leiden ranking, released on June 22, consecrates the Mohammed V University (UM5) of Rabat as the only Moroccan university to appear again in this ranking among the 1,030 universities from 69 countries, including 33 universities Africans and 29 Arabs.

The CWTS Leiden Ranking, provides since 2007 a ranking of the best universities in the world based on four types of indicators related to research, and which relate to the scientific impact of publications, international collaboration, publications in open access and on the gender approach in the authors of the publications explains a press release from the UM5 of Raba.

During this 2022 edition, the UM5 improved its ranking in these four indicators compared to the previous year, the statement said, adding that the data used for this ranking comes from the international scientific database “Web of Science”. over the period 2017-2020.

In this regard, the press release states that the UM5 is the national leader in terms of Web of Science indexed publications, with 25% of the number of national publications.

The countries with the highest number of universities in this list are China with 247 universities, followed by the United States of America (242), the United Kingdom (65), Japan (56), Germany (54), South Korea and India (49).
