The Southern Provinces in the spotlight of the international tourism investment community

The Moroccan Society of Tourism Engineering -SMIT- was the guest of honor of the virtual forum organized on June 15, 2022, dedicated to the promotion of tourist investment at the level of the Southern Provinces and more particularly the Region of Guelmim Oued Noun.

This international event, held in virtual mode, mobilized nearly 200 high-level players from the national and international tourism investment community.

The opening and welcoming remarks were made by Imad Barrakad, Managing Director of SMIT, who highlighted the region’s tourism potential and recalled Morocco’s efforts to improve the attractiveness of these destinations under the royal impulse.

The head of SMIT also stressed that the Guelmim region “offers countless tourism investment opportunities where innovation and sustainability are essential to seize the immense potential of its tangible and intangible heritage”.

This meeting was, undeniably, the occasion:

– positively influence the national and international investment community,

– to contribute to the revival of the dynamics of tourist investment in this region, and

– to increase the visibility of investment opportunities in the Moroccan tourism and hotel sector.

With a rich and diversified program, this conference brought together high-level panelists and constituted a networking platform through the connection of foreign investors in the various tourist sectors of the region.

Thus during the session dedicated to the presentation of investment opportunities, Mrs. Touzani declared that the South of Morocco is characterized by its natural, faunal and floristic diversity, its beautiful beaches, its mountains, its desert, its oases which provide it with prominent place in the Moroccan tourist landscape.

In addition, the Azalai Group has demonstrated the great potential of the region in terms of developing not only resorts but also cultural tourism projects focused on sustainable development. Also, the group explained that several products adapted to tourist VSMEs exist and are just waiting to be exploited in view of the current strong demand for nature tourism in this post-health crisis period.

The webinar also saw the participation of national and international experts such as Fabio Nava, Vice President of Capital Markets, Ewan Cameron, Africa Director, Westmont Hospitality Group, Chris Nader, CEO Envi Lodges Saurabh Chawla, CEO Selina Group as well as Paul Gardiner, Ceo Mantis Collection and Bear Grylls Location.

All of these actors and speakers congratulated Morocco for these remarkable economic, political and societal advances, thus raising it to the top of destinations with very high added value and high potential.

The organization of this webinar was a real opportunity to turn the spotlight on Morocco and more particularly the Region of Guelmim Oued Noun. Also, this gathering was an opportunity to announce the holding of the African Hotel Investment Forum – AHIF – in November in Agadir.
