The health status of the national herd is "good" with a supply of more than 7 million head

The Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament, government spokesman, Mustapha Baitas, declared on Thursday that the health status of the national herd is good with a supply of cattle intended for slaughter for Eid Al- Adha 2022 is estimated at over 7 million head against an estimated demand of 6 million head.

Responding to questions from journalists, Mustapha Baitas indicated, during a press conference following the weekly meeting of the Government Council, that as part of the free vaccination of livestock, nearly 2 million cattle were immunized against foot-and-mouth disease, 19 million sheep immunized against peste des petits ruminants (PPR) and smallpox and 4.5 million goats against PPR.

The control operations carried out so far have resulted in the census of 242,000 fattening units of sheep and goats and 5 million head of cattle, noted the minister, adding that 939 field trips were carried out for sampling. of 263 food samples and the finding of two fines.

Mustapha Baitas also mentioned the context of the agricultural campaign, characterized by a delay in the rains, recalling the launch by the government, on High Royal Instructions, of an exceptional program in the amount of 10 billion dirhams intended to mitigate the effects rainfall deficit, part of which was allocated to the distribution of subsidized barley and compound feed for the benefit of farmers.
