The Criminal Chamber has delivered its verdict

The Criminal Chamber in charge of financial crimes near the Fez Court of Appeal condemned, this Tuesday evening, in first instance, Abderrafie Zouiten, the current boss of the Esprit de Fès Foundation, the organizing party of the Fez Festival of Sacred Music world, to one year in prison and a fine of 20,000 DH, for embezzlement of public funds.

In the same case, the court also sentenced Faouzi Sqali and Abdelkader El Ouazzani, former officials of the same institution, to the same prison term and the same fine for squandering public funds, while Abdellah Al Zaher and Mounia Asmouni were sentenced to 10 months in prison and a fine of 2,000 DH each for forgery.

The Criminal Chamber in charge of financial crimes near the Fez Court of Appeal also decided, in this case, to acquit the 8 other defendants prosecuted for the acts of which they are accused and to return the bonds to them as well as to the convicted persons. after deduction of the amount of the fine.

It should be recalled that a number of former and current officials of the Esprit de Fès Foundation have been prosecuted in this case alongside suppliers who had previously obtained contracts with the Fès Festival of Sacred Music of the World.

This affair broke out on the basis of a complaint lodged by former members of the Esprit de Fès Foundation, namely Hassan Sligwa, Mohamed El-Amouri and Abdelhamid Ben Makhlouf. The court had heard them in the context of this case, in which 15 defendants were being prosecuted on bail.
