Official: The CAF Awards 2022 ceremony on July 21 in Morocco

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Sunday that the CAF Awards ceremony for the year 2022 will be held on July 21 in Morocco.

CAF, which does not specify the host city, observes that “the event also coincides with the second anniversary of the launch of CAF’s women’s football strategy”.

The statement from the Confederation also indicates that a new category has been introduced following the launch of the CAF Women’s Champions League last November. This is the “Interclubs Player of the Year”.

As in previous editions, several categories will be in the running, in addition to the Player and Player of the Year awards.

Other categories include Interclub Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year, National Team of the Year, Coach of the Year, Club of the Year and Goal of the Year . The period taken into account is from September 2021 to June 2022.

The winners will be decided by the votes of member association captains and coaches, the CAF Technical Study Group, selected journalists, and African Football Legends.

It should be noted that during the previous edition, held in 2019 in Egypt, the Senegalese striker Sadio Mané and the Nigerian Asisat Oshoala had respectively won the titles of player and player of the year.
