Moroccan and American paratroopers cover the sky of Mahbès

Exercise ” African Lion 2022″ started in Morocco on June 20 to continue until June 30 in the regions of Agadir, Benguerir, Kénitra, Mahbès, Taroudannt and Tan-Tan, with the participation of ten African and other countries, including Morocco, in addition the United States.

In 18 years, this maneuver has made a lot of progress, and kept all its promises, in the sense that it accompanies the innovations that are necessary in order to achieve the expected objectives in terms of joint joint exercises in particular.

In this same context, the paratroopers taking part in the maneuvers African Lion 2022 » have covered the sky of Mahbès during the last four days, thus practicing parachute jumping in sensitive areas.

In Mahbès therefore, about 200 km south-east of Guelmim, military air transport planes belonging to the “african lion flew over the skies of Mahbès, before the parachute squadrons appeared, in an aerial landing exercise, while maneuvering in the sky of the city.

The Operations Center in Agadir is responsible for the planning and conduct of joint operations as well as the coordination between the various components capable of successfully carrying out the missions of the “African Lion 2022” exercise, explained the lieutenant-colonel, Zouhair El Hmdani of the FAR.

For his part, Colonel McKinley, of the US Army, stressed that the “African Lion 2022″ exercise aims to strengthen joint technical and military action between the FAR and the participating countries.

It should be noted that the Mahbès region is considered one of the most important military zones due to its location less than forty kilometers from the Tindouf camps, and a few kilometers from the eastern borders of the Kingdom.

Earlier, the armies participating in the maneuvers of »african lion“, especially Americans, arrived in the Mahbès region, with their military vehicles, as part of the field exercises organized this year in the Moroccan Sahara.

This is the second time that the American army has landed in the Moroccan Sahara with its military equipment, to participate in the maneuvers it organizes each year in collaboration with Morocco.

The participation of the American army in the maneuvers of »african lion in the heart of the Moroccan Sahara is a real gain for the Kingdom, given that the Polisario has always claimed bombard the Mahbès area as part of fake news that incites ceasefire violations.

Monday, June 20 in Agadir, and on high instructions from King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, the Moroccan-American joint exercises ” African Lion 2022 were launched.

These exercises will continue until June 30, with the participation of a multinational Joint Task Force, in the presence of representatives of the participating countries and the use of a very large number of land, air and maritime equipment.

Mobilizing a budget of 36 million dollars, the »African Lion 2022 brought together some 7,500 soldiers from Brazil, Chad, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom and other countries.

On the program for this edition, live fire exercises, military and air and combined maneuvers, day and night, special forces operations, airborne operations, civil-military actions, exercises to fight against weapons of mass destruction and medical evacuation.

In his opening speech for this 18th edition, Lieutenant General Belkhir El Farouk, Inspector General of the FAR and Commander of the Southern Zone, welcomed the various participating delegations. He also recalled the objectives of this annual meeting, highlighting the importance of the strategic partnership between Morocco and the United States and between Morocco and the partner countries, all sharing the same ideals of peace and security.
