Barid Al-Maghrib adopts 100% electric vehicles produced in Morocco

Barid Al-Maghrib launched, Tuesday in Rabat, the circulation of 225 electric vehicles exclusively dedicated to the modernization and expansion of its mail-parcel distribution network.

Designed by Stellantis Kénitra especially for Barid Al-Maghrib, following an agreement signed in October 2020, these Citroën Ami-type electric vehicles are suitable for daily distribution activity and have a range of 75 km, while charging complete does not exceed a duration of 3 hours.

On this occasion, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, affirmed that thanks to the strong impetus given by King Mohammed VI to clean energies, the Kingdom is progressing with serenity in its energy transition.

“Testimony to this, he argued, is this fruitful collaboration between the Stellantis group and Barid Al-Maghrib which has given birth to locally manufactured electric cars and reaffirmed the common desire of public and private operators to support the development of electric mobility in Morocco and to make it one of the strong links of the national industry”.

In this same context, he indicated that this choice is above all part of an eco-responsible approach, responding to the global concerns raised by climate change, which Moroccan industry puts at the service of the modernization and proximity of services. made public to citizens.

In the same vein, the director of the postal activities pole in Barid Al-Maghrib, El Messaoudi Abdeladim, underlined that these vehicles considered as real springboards towards a new era, meet the objective of Barid Al-Maghrib to adopt the eco-mobility to help reduce transport-related CO2 emissions and ensure clean and sustainable mobility.

According to him, the official launch of the circulation of these vehicles is today the concretization of the partnership between Barid Al Maghrib, Stellantis and Sopriam promoted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Citroën AMI – 100% ëlectric produced in Morocco, in the Kénitra plant as a world exclusive, is also the result of collaboration between the central and Moroccan teams of Stellantis for design, engineering, purchasing and production, a he specified.

Barid Al-Maghrib’s electric vehicles will be put into circulation in 42 cities across all regions. As for their distribution, it will obey the size and volume of mail-parcel delivery.
