the Palme d'Or to the Swedish director Ruben Östlund for "Without filter"

Swedish director Ruben Östlund won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival on Saturday for his film “Without Filter” (“Triangle of Sadness”), a comedy about class struggle.

The Swede had already received the supreme award in 2017 with “The Square”, in which he fired red balls at the world of contemporary art.

South Korean actor Song Kang-Ho received the best actor award for his role in the film Broker, by director Kore-Eda Hirokazu.

The Best Actress award went to Iranian Zar Amir Ebrahimi for her role in “Les Nuits de Mashhad”.

The jury for this 75 edition of the festival was chaired by French actor Vincent Lindon, winner of the interpretation prize in 2015 and actor in Titane, the Palme d’Or 2021, who succeeded American director Spike Lee.

Vincent Lindon is the first Frenchman to chair the jury of the prestigious festival which will continue until the 28th since Isabelle Huppert in 2009. He succeeds the American director Spike Lee.

In total, 21 films were in the running for the official competition out of 2,200 submitted productions from 155 countries.
