the HCP relies on digitization

Morocco has launched logistical and technical preparations for the next population census which will take place in 2024. As a reminder, since its independence, the Kingdom is at its sixth (one per decade) after those of 1960, 1971, 1982, 1994, 2004 and 2014. But much more than a census, it is more on the process declared and which will be carried out that attention is paid.

Indeed, as of the current financial year and two years from the implementation of the deadline, the High Commission for Planning (HCP) will adopt electronic and computerized means to collect data from households and the population. . The High Commissioner for Planning, Ahmed Lahlimi Alami, chaired a working session in Rabat in this direction, at which several experts in the field were present, reveals Al Ahdath Al Maghribiya on reading its edition of May 17, 2022.

The objective, in the case, is to set up during this seventh global census of the Moroccan population, the aforementioned technological tools. In other words, we conform to the values of modernity. Farewell, then, to agents ticking the boxes of well-meaning card forms. Professions are lost even if sometimes they had no reason other than the circumstance.

The HCP means here “that it was an era”. Today, time belongs to another expertise through the qualifications of people working in the field of new information technologies. They represent ministerial departments and specialized national institutions, indicates the press release of the HCP which underlines the importance of the meeting. “This meeting was an opportunity for a rich and useful exchange on the various components and functionalities expected of the integrated computer solution of the process of carrying out the RGPH and the special requirements for its implementation with a view to ensuring, at this large national deadline, the best operational efficiency and the lowest financial cost“, it is said in the document.

Indeed, through this process of modern times, the HCP now seeks to stand out from a certain era and embrace a digitization which de facto is essential in these modern times. So the scribble is over.

In addition, the noble institution directed by Lahlimi also plans the use of GPS and satellite imagery using a mobile computer program of high geographical precision, that is to say the will to put an end to the use of traditional paper. We can understand, not without a certain nostalgia, that the time has come for the use of tablets, the elimination of physical forms, integrated digital platforms…

The HCP is called upon to digitize its first General Census of Population and Housing (RGPH) 2024 towards where the Kingdom is heading and whose data collection will be done in this spirit of the times by adopting a computer system integrated grouping all the stages of the count at the national level.

At the level of the HCP and in the national context, we will have retained the international benchmark in order to have within reach the best foreign experiences for an appropriate and appropriate implementation of the census of our population and whose first measures will be effective from the last quarter of the current year. The new system should make it possible to link the components of the different geographical units, including census areas and the locations of buildings, dwellings and businesses, with the statistical data collected during the different stages.
