22nd FICAK: 13 films in competition in the "Feature films" category

Thirteen films from 12 African countries, including two Moroccan productions, will compete in the “Feature films” category at the 22nd edition of the Khouribga International African Cinema Festival (FICAK), scheduled from May 28 to June 4.

A press release from the Festival Foundation specifies that Morocco will be represented in this competition by the feature films “Oliver Black” by Tawfik Baba and “The Fall of the Apple Trees” by Mohamed Mouftakir.

The other films in the running are “Bendskins” by Narcisse Wandji (Cameroon), “Lingui, the sacred bonds” by Mahamet Salah Haroun (Chad), “Massoudi” by Emmanuel Rotoubam Mbaidé (Burkina Faso), “Argu, rêve” by Omar Belkacemi (Algeria), “I’ll go to the devil” by Ismahane Lahmar (Tunisia), “A Taste Of Our Land” by Amuli Yuhi (Rwanda), “The White Line” by Desiree Kahikopo (Namibia) and “Mami Watta” by Christian Thiam (Senegal).

It is also about Paul’s “Maria Kristu” films. S. Wilo (Zambia), “Twelfth Night” by Philippe Lacôte (Ivory Coast) and “In, 2 Talaat Harb” by Magdi Ahmed Ali (Egypt).

The feature film jury of this 22nd edition will be chaired by Moroccan director Saad Chraïbi, with Hammadi Guiroum (Morocco), Kantarama Gahigiri (Rwanda), Maguèye Kassé (Senegal) and Khaled El Hagar (Egypt) as members, the press release said. .

The Documentary Feature Films jury is made up of Khouloud Bittioui (Morocco), Lea Malle Thierry (Cameroon) and Aymen Jlili (Tunisia).

Eight feature films representing 7 African countries are in the running for the two Prizes in this category, including two Moroccan productions, “In the house” by Karima Saïdi and “Broken Mirrors” by Othmane Saâdouni.

The other documentaries in the running are “The Letter” by Mia Lekou (Kenya), “Night Nursery” by Moumouni Sanou (Burkina Faso), “Walking on Water” by Aïssa Maïga (Niger), “When a farm goes aflame” by Jide Tom Akinleminu (Nigeria), “Zabou” by Abdoulaye Ascofaré (Mali) and “From Meir, to Meir” by Maggie Morjan (Egypt).

Note that this edition will also see the launch of the Critics’ Prize.
